Ray Langston fortsätter sökandet efter Madeline Briggs. Sökandet avbryts när en lokal väderflicka hittas död utanför ett hotell med halsen avskuren och handväskan full med prylar som indikerar att hon var prostituerad. Utredningen visar på ett samband med Madeline men spåren pekar mot två olika hallickar. Vem mördade väderflickan och är det för sent att rädda Madeline?
