In Malibu Country, McEntire stars as a broke divorcee who moves her family to Malibu where she attempts to revive her music career while keeping her children from being corrupted by the city. McEntire will reunite with Reba showrunner Kevin Abbott, who will write and executive-produce the pilot, along with Mindy Schultheis, Michael Hanel, Pam Williams, Dave Stewart and Narvel Blackstock.

Reba blir överlycklig när Mr Bata går med på att spela in en av hennes låtar, men hon blir förolämpad när han vill att en rappare ska spela in låten istället för henne. Lillie Mae upptäcker att hon har en hemlig beundrare.Reba MacKenzie upptäcker att hennes man bedrar henne och packar då in sin gamla mamma och sina barn i bilen och lämnar Nashville för att starta ett nytt liv i lyxiga Malibu i Kalifornien.
