Some of them are loyal to the family and are committed to Downton as a way of life, others are moving through, on the look out for new opportunities or love or just adventure. The difference being that they know so many of the secrets of the family, while the family knows so few of theirs...

Det blir en glädjens dag för hela Downton, och äntligen får Anna belöningen för sina ansträngningar. Edith möts av beundran från ett oväntat håll. Edith får ett spännande erbjudande från en tidning, men entusiasmen från den övriga familjen är inte helhjärtad. Isobel har inte gett upp hoppet om Ethel, och erbjuder henne en nystart. Det senaste tillskottet till tjänstestaben, Ivy, drar blickarna till sig och Daisy är inte glad över Alfreds intresse. Annas ihärdighet ger äntligen resultat, och Matthew misstänker att hans synpunkter på egendomens skötsel inte tas på allvar. Under tiden blir det alltmer uppenbart att saker och ting inte står rätt till med Sibyl.
